MIDDLEBURY BASEBALL - MINORS PROGRAM

Updated Monday April 7, 2014 by Babe Ruth Import.

This email summarizes the MINORS (9 & 10 year olds) Spring 2014 Middlebury Baseball program and is being sent out to ALL players’ parents. ALL parents will receive an email about each program: Instructional 1, Instructional 2, Minors, and Majors.  This ensures that our parents have information on all our baseball programs.

The Middlebury Baseball Board of Directors (BOD) would like to welcome you to Middlebury’s Spring 2014 Cal Ripken Baseball Program for MINORS.   Middlebury Baseball is a registered Cal Ripken League in CT’s Northwest District.  Cal Ripken is part of Babe Ruth Baseball.

We have been busy preparing for the Spring Season!  We pledge to provide an enriching venue for our players to experience the fun of baseball.   We strive to build teamwork, friendship, self-esteem, character, courage and loyalty in our players!  Our top priority is and will always be our players!

We are very grateful to the many parents that offered to volunteer as coaches and for other positions during online registrations.  The online registration application is provided by Babe Ruth Baseball and is used by baseball leagues nationwide.  It is a very efficient way to gather player and volunteer information and has been used for many years.  The BOD has reviewed volunteers identified for Minors coaching positions.  Our screening process is complete, and approved coaches were notified and assigned to teams.

Our Minors Coordinator this season will be Joe Koziol.  Joe was the Minors Coordinator and the Route 84 Fall League Coordinator (along with Chris Salzo from Southbury Baseball) last fall.  Joe coached in the Minors last spring, summer and fall.  Going forward, all Minors communications will be sent out by the Head Coaches.  The Minors Head Coaches are Renee Anderson, Jim Gomulinski, and Joe Koziol.  Renee has several years of baseball coaching experience along with basketball and further coaching experience as a field hockey coach at Memorial Middle School.  Jim has baseball coaching experience along with basketball and further coaching experience as Head Coach for Pomperaug Football.

Minors have three weeks of Preseason practices that started yesterday April 6th and will continue until April 25th.  Preseason and Regular season practice days and times will be determined by the Head Coaches.

Minors’ games will start on Saturday April 26th.  Thereafter, Minors games will be on a rotating schedule in the following time slots: Wednesdays (5:30 or 6:00PM), Fridays (5:30 or 7:30PM), and Saturdays (9:00AM, or 11:30AM, or 2:00PM).  There may be games scheduled on other days and times (as needed).  Minors Teams will play 2-3 games per week.

Based on coaches’ recommendations, there will be no player evaluations in the spring.  Instructional 2 players eligible to play in the Minors next season will be identified and based on coaches recommendations placed on the Instructional 2 Call-up List.  The Minors Head Coaches will be provided with the Instructional 2 Call-up List.   Minors players eligible to play in the Majors next season will be identified and based on coaches recommendations placed on the Minors Call-up List.  The Majors Head Coaches will be provided with the Minors Call-up List.   There is no guarantee of practice time or games for players on the Call-up Lists.
